Statute overview

About this statute

Temporary residence permits are granted to people abroad for temporary work, temporary business activity, or other special reasons; family members get a permit for the same period if the person is granted one. Utlänningar som är 17–30 år när de ansöker kan få ett tillfälligt uppehållstillstånd för au pairarbete, om flera villkor är uppfyllda. A person abroad may be granted a continuous residence permit if certain family, work, or business conditions are met. Section 53 sets default lengths for the first temporary residence permit and several special permit periods. This section sets maximum durations for certain residence permits, including a new temporary residence permit and an EU Blue Card.
