About this statute

The alcolock manufacturer or authorized representative must notify the Transport and Communications Agency before the alcolock is placed on the market and put into use. Rules for installing, servicing, calibrating, and using alcohol interlocks: only authorized operators may install/service them, certain unapproved items may not be attached, calibration must happen within an approved time, certificates must be issued and carried, and the transport authority must list sellers and operators online. The alkolås must require breath tests before starting, during driving at random intervals, and lock the vehicle if the alcohol limit is met or a test is refused; accepted breath tests must be at least 1.0 liter.
