About this statute

Om faderskap inte kan fastställas enligt 2 §, ska det fastställas genom beslut av Myndigheten för digitalisering och befolkningsdata eller av domstol. Paternity is not investigated if maternity has been acknowledged based on consent to assisted reproduction and the child welfare officer has no reason to suspect another parent. Certain people may appeal a child welfare officer’s decision to close or reopen a paternity investigation, and those same people plus the child welfare officer may appeal the administrative court’s decision. A paternity recognition is allowed for a child whose paternity has already been established under section 2 if the required approvals under section 19 are given. The provision says who may receive a paternity acknowledgment, including certain officials in Finland and abroad.
