Statute overview

About this statute

Institutet för hälsa och välfärd may, in an urgent serious-epidemic situation, access and combine certain health and benefits data and draw random comparison persons or a population sample. The Finnish Institute for Health and Welfare may add specified personal data to the sample-based follow-up register and match it with certain other registers and data it has received under another section. Institutet may add certain population register data and may collect and store necessary infection-related data in the register. The Finnish Institute for Health and Welfare may, free of charge and despite secrecy rules, access necessary patient records and combine them with specified register data to carry out the tasks referred to in subsection 1. This section says the rules for the register are found in the Medicines Act, and the law enters into force on 1 May 2019.
