Statute overview

About this statute

The register must record specified details about the vessel, its owner, and certain legal encumbrances; for one category of vessel, mortgages are not recorded. A foreign ship that has become Finnish may be registered only after proof is shown that it has been, or will be, removed from the foreign register, or that an equivalent entry is made. The register authority may remove a ship from the register if the registered owner does not meet its duty under section 30, but it must first give the owner a chance to be heard.
