Statute overview

About this statute

Certain state authorities, expert institutions, wellbeing services counties, the HUS group, and municipal environmental and health protection bodies must systematically combat infectious diseases and take immediate action when they learn of an infectious disease or risk that requires control measures. Institutet för hälsa och välfärd is responsible for national infectious-disease expertise, surveillance, vaccine supply tasks, and related guidance. Regionförvaltningsverket must coordinate and supervise infectious disease control in its area, work with regional wellbeing services and HUS, and ensure there is a doctor responsible for infectious diseases. Specified public authorities must organize infectious disease control for people in their care and, in some cases, may make person-related administrative decisions.
