Statute overview

About this statute

The provision says vocational education should support students’ personal and social development, and that the child’s best interests must come first when planning, arranging, and deciding on education for students under 18. A school teacher or principal must tell the student’s guardian or other legal representative about harassment, bullying, discrimination, or violence that they learn about in school or on the way to school. A student may be denied participation in teaching for up to three working days if safety is at risk or teaching is seriously disrupted by violent, threatening, or disturbing behavior. The rector, a collegial body, or a municipal collegial body decides certain student discipline matters; before some sanctions, the cause must be specified, information collected, and the student heard. Students must do their tasks carefully, behave properly, and avoid bullying, discrimination, or endangering others’ safety or health.
