Statute overview

About this statute

This section defines “fordon” (vehicle) for the law. Road users must give way to emergency vehicles with warning lights/sirens and to certain convoys, and must not break up or obstruct a convoy or procession in motion, with an exception for emergency-vehicle drivers. The chapter also applies to vehicle use in the Defence Forces and related vehicle combinations. The Ministry of Defence may issue regulations on defence-necessary exemptions, and the Defence Forces’ technical inspection unit may issue conflicting rules when needed because of special use or construction. Blue flashing warning lights may be used on emergency vehicles, and also on police, customs, border guard, and Defence Forces vehicles, including some non-emergency vehicles used by those authorities. En vägtrafikant får i vissa uppdrag låta bli att följa trafikregler och fordonregler, men bara med särskild försiktighet och när uppdraget kräver det.
