Statute overview

About this statute

This provision defines “uppehållstillstånd för arbetstagare” as a work permit for gainful employment granted to foreign nationals, with regional labour availability examined in the assessment. A foreign national may be granted a worker’s residence permit on application. Before that, the decision-maker must check labor availability and ensure the permit does not block a person who could be employed. A foreigner may be granted a residence permit for a specialist if the work requires special expertise and the pay is at least the average gross wage. When a residence permit is granted, sections 72 and 72 b do not apply. When granting a residence permit for a person who has completed a degree or finished research in Finland, sections 72 and 72 b do not apply.
