Statute overview

About this statute

Chapter 1 is titled “Kaupparekisteri” (Trade Register). This provision says the trade register is maintained to provide current and reliable information about companies, associations, and persons operating in them. Everyone has the right to get information, extracts, and certificates from the trade register and documents held by the registry authority. The registry authority may also disclose certain personal and beneficial owner data, but some disclosures require a legal basis, protected transmission, or proof of proper safeguarding. Several business entities and certain entrepreneurs, foreign entities, and associations/foundations are to be entered in the trade register; some others may also file a founding notification voluntarily.
