Statute overview

About this statute

This section says the law applies to space activities in Finland and, in some cases, outside Finland; it also covers certain satellite remote sensing with Finnish control and gives the Government power to set performance thresholds. The provision exempts Defence Forces space activities and satellite remote sensing from specified sections, assigns supervision/reporting duties, and lets the Ministry of Defence issue more detailed supervision rules. This section defines key terms used in the Act. The section sets permit conditions for space activity and satellite-based remote sensing, requires reporting and security measures, and restricts disclosure of remote sensing data. Operators and remote-sensing operators must promptly report certain changes to the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment; remote-sensing operators must also report when satellite-based remote sensing has ended.
