Statute overview

About this statute

Working time, including overtime, must not exceed 48 hours per week on average over four months; for certain motor vehicle drivers, it must not exceed 60 hours in a calendar week. Collective agreements may deviate from several statutory working-time rules, but some items keep specific limits and safeguards. An employer covered by a generally binding collective agreement may also follow certain collective agreement provisions within the agreement’s scope, including after the agreement has expired until a new one takes effect. Lokala avtal om arbetstid kan i vissa fall ingås av andra personalföreträdare eller av personalen själv, och en arbetstagare får behålla sin tidigare arbetstid om arbetsgivaren underrättas minst två dagar i förväg. If the regional administrative agency has granted a time-limited permit and circumstances have not materially changed, the employer and the employee representatives may agree that the permit or exemption continues.
