This Order can be cited by its short title and starts immediately, except for certain provisions that begin on days appointed by the Head of the Department.
Social Security (Northern Ireland) Order 1980 This Order may be cited as the Social Security (Northern Ireland) Order 1980. The Social Security (Northern Ireland) Acts 1975 to 1979 and this Order may be cited together as the Social Security (Northern Ireland) Acts 1975 to 1980. Subject to paragraph (4), this Order shall come into operation forthwith. The following provisions of this Order shall come into operation on such day or days as the Head of the Department may by order appoint Article 7 (except paragraph (4)) and Articles 8, 9 and 11; Part I, and paragraph 10, of Schedule 1; Schedule 2; in Schedule 3 paragraphs 1, 5 to 8 and 10 and 11; Part II of Schedule 4. The Interpretation Act (Northern Ireland) 1954 shall apply to Article 1 and the following provisions of this Order as it applies to a Measure of the Northern Ireland Assembly.
