This Order lets the Department of Finance and Personnel issue funds, borrow up to a stated limit, and apply certain sums as appropriations in aid; borrowed money must be repaid by 31 March 1989.
The Appropriation (No. 2) (Northern Ireland) Order 1988 Made Coming into Operation At the Court at Buckingham Palace, the 26th day of July 1988 Present, The Queen’s Most Excellent Majesty in Council Whereas a draft of this Order has been approved by a resolution of each House of Parliament: Now, therefore, Her Majesty, in exercise of the powers conferred by paragraph 1 of Schedule 1 to the Northern Ireland Act 1974 and of all other powers enabling Her in that behalf, is pleased, by and with the advice of Her Privy Council, to order, and it is hereby ordered, as follows:— This Order may be cited as the Appropriation (No. 2) (Northern Ireland) Order 1988 and shall come into operation forthwith. The Interpretation Act (Northern Ireland) 1954 shall apply to Article 1 and the following provisions of this Order as it applies to a Measure of the Northern Ireland Assembly. The Department of Finance and Personnel may issue out of the Consolidated Fund and apply towards making good the supply granted to Her Majesty for the service of the year ending on 31st March 1989 the sum of two thousand and nineteen million, nine hundred and thirty-eight thousand, eight hundred pounds. Subject to paragraph (2), the Department of Finance and Personnel may borrow on the credit of the aforesaid sum, any sum or sums not exceeding in the whole one thousand and ten million pounds. Any money so borrowed shall be repaid, with any interest due thereon, out of the Consolidated Fund at any date not later than 31st March 1989. The sum granted by Article 3 out of the Consolidated Fund is appropriated for the several services and purposes specified in the Schedule. In addition to the sum granted by Article 3 out of the Consolidated Fund, there may be applied as appropriations in aid of the grants for the several services and purposes specified in the Schedule the sums respectively specified in column 3. SCHEDULE of sums granted, and of the sums which may be applied as appropriations in aid in addition thereto, to defray the charges of the several services herein particularly mentioned, which will come in course of payment during the year ending on 31st March 1989 viz:— (This note is not part of the Order) This Order authorises the issue out of the Consolidated Fund of Northern Ireland of a further sum for the year ending on 31st March 1989 and appropriates that sum for specified services in Northern Ireland.
