About this statute

This section establishes the Petroleum Hub Development Corporation as a body corporate and gives it powers to deal with property and contracts. The Corporation’s object is to promote and develop a Petroleum and Petrochemicals Hub in the country. The Corporation must carry out a list of Hub-related functions, including planning, facilitation, coordination, record keeping, and helping companies obtain licences and permits. The Corporation has powers to partner with companies in the Hub, create a skills-transfer mechanism, facilitate industrial parks, promote the Hub’s efficiency, and do other infrastructure-promoting activities. The Corporation is governed by a Board made up of specified members, and the President must appoint the Board members under article 70 of the Constitution.
