Statute overview

About this statute

This section creates the National Board for Professional and Technician Examinations (“the Board”) and gives it corporate status and certain powers. The Board must run examinations, evaluation, assessment, certification and standards work for specified tertiary institutions and related bodies, and it has power to make regulations for its examinations and awards. This section sets how the Board is made up and says most Board members serve for three years, with one re-appointment allowed for another three years. Board members must meet specified integrity and legal eligibility conditions, and the President must consider expertise and experience when appointing them. If the Chairman or a Board member is unable to serve for more than three months, a replacement may be appointed or nominated. A member who misses three consecutive meetings without sufficient reason stops being a member, and the President may remove a member in writing for stated reasons.
