Statute overview

About this statute

This section establishes a Venture Capital Trust Fund called the Trust Fund. The Trust Fund is meant to finance venture capital development and promotion for SMEs in priority sectors. The Trust Fund’s money comes from specified sources, including a share of the National Reconstruction Levy, fees, investment income, grants, donations, voluntary contributions, and other lawful amounts or property. The Board must open Trust Fund bank accounts with the Accountant-General’s approval, and the Minister of Finance must pay the required levy revenue into those accounts within 30 days after notification. The Board can decide how the Trust Fund is divided into account categories, and it must determine each category’s share of the Fund in consultation with the Minister.
