About this statute
Trustees of qualifying voluntary associations must apply to the Minister for a certificate of registration as a corporate body. The Minister may grant it subject to conditions, and on grant the trustees become a body corporate. The Act applies to trustees of unincorporated voluntary associations or bodies established for a religious purpose. The certificate of incorporation vests in the body corporate all land held for it in trust. An application to the Minister for a certificate under this Act must be written, signed, and include the required particulars. The Minister must be satisfied that trustees were properly appointed before incorporation is certified, trustees must certify new trustee appointments, and trustees must file periodic returns of trustee details.
