Statute overview

About this statute

This Part applies to mass registration of individuals and to updating the Register. The Act establishes the National Identity Register and requires the Executive Secretary of the National Identification Authority to keep and maintain it. The National Identification Authority must provide methods for individuals to submit personal information for the Register, verify that information when needed in the public interest, and deal with excluded categories of persons. The Register’s electronic database must contain specified personal information for covered citizens and foreign nationals, and applicants must provide listed identity, contact, status, and biometric details. Personal information may be recorded in the Register only if it fits one of the listed conditions.
