This section establishes the National Ambulance Service as a body corporate and gives it permission to handle property and contracts for its functions. The Service includes people employed by the Service and other people employed for it. The Service’s object is to provide for the effective administration and management of emergency care services nationwide. The Service must carry out ambulance and emergency care functions, including 24-hour access, staff training, collaboration with agencies, setting charges with approval, and managing its assets. The Service is governed by a Board made up of specified members, and the President appoints the chairperson and other members.
