Documents submitted under the Buildings Ordinance generally must not use non-metric units after 31 March 1977, and a document must not mix metric and non-metric units.

Citation This Order may be cited as the Metrication Amendments (Buildings Ordinance) Order.(E.R. 7 of 2020) 2. General prohibition of use of non-metric units in building plans, etc. Subject to paragraph 3, the use of non-metric units in documents submitted under the Buildings Ordinance (Cap. 123) after 31 March 1977 is prohibited.(E.R. 7 of 2020) 3. Circumstances in which non-metric units to be used after 31 March 1977 but before 1 January 1980 (E.R. 7 of 2020)Non-metric units shall continue to be used in documents submitted under the Buildings Ordinance (Cap. 123) after 31 March 1977 but before 1 January 1980 where such documents constitute amendments to, or otherwise relate to, documents previously submitted in which non-metric units have been used, unless such previously submitted documents are resubmitted incorporating the use of metric units.(E.R. 7 of 2020) 4. Prohibition of the use of metric and non-metric units No document shall be submitted under the Buildings Ordinance (Cap. 123) containing references to both metric and non-metric units. 5. Amendment of specified enactments (1) Without prejudice to the provisions of paragraph 2 or 3, the provisions of the enactments specified in the first column of the First Schedule are amended by deleting, wherever it appears, the expression specified in the second column thereof opposite each such provision and substituting in each place the expression specified in the third column thereof opposite each such provision.(2) Without prejudice to the provisions of paragraph 2 or 3, the enactments specified in the first column of the Second Schedule are amended to the extent and in the manner set out in the second column thereof.
