Statute overview

About this statute

This Ordinance sets up a Hong Kong deposit protection scheme, the Board that runs it, and rules for Scheme membership, compensation, contributions, exemptions, and offences. This part sets who gets compensation from the Fund in trust and client-account situations, and gives the Board powers to investigate, decide, notify, recover overpayments, and handle reviews and appeals. This provision lets the Chief Justice and Monetary Authority make rules, lets the Chief Executive in Council amend listed Schedules, and sets Tribunal and Board procedures, levy formulas, and penalties for contravening an asset maintenance requirement.
