Statute overview

About this statute

This Ordinance sets rules for stablecoin activities, licensing, advertising, exemptions, and offences, and gives the Monetary Authority enforcement and licensing powers. This provision lets the Monetary Authority revoke or suspend a licence, and it requires licensees to follow controller and chief executive rules and to notify the Authority of changes. This part gives the Monetary Authority control over licensee appointments, notices, consents, and management intervention, and it creates offences for non-compliance. The Monetary Authority and the Court of First Instance have powers over statutory managers and designated stablecoin entities, and several offences apply for non-compliance with notices, requirements, and obstruction. The Monetary Authority can direct compliance, investigate suspected breaches, and impose sanctions; certain persons must comply with investigation and Tribunal requirements, and there are offences for non-compliance, false information, and record destruction.
