S.I. No. 137/1985 - Inland Post Amendment (No. 29) Scheme, 1985. S.I. No. 137 of 1985. INLAND POST AMENDMENT (No. 29) SCHEME, 1985. AN POST, in exercise of the powers conferred on it by Section 70 of the Postal and Telecommunications Services Act, 1983 (No. 24 of 1983) and with the consent of the Minister for Communications hereby makes the following Scheme: 1. (1) This Scheme may be cited as the Inland Post Amendment (No. 29) Scheme, 1985. (2) This Scheme shall come into operation on the 25th day of February, 1985. 2. In this Scheme— "the Principal Warrant" means the Inland Post Warrant, 1939 ( S.I. No. 202 of 1939 "Warrant No. 27" means the Inland Post Amendment (No. 27) Warrant, 1982 ( S.I. No. 58 of 1982 ). 3. In this Scheme the expression "Periodical" means a publication which is within the definition for Newspapers outlined in Section 20 of the Post Office Act, 1908 and Regulation 7 of the Principle Warrant with the exception "that it be published in numbers at intervals of not more than three months." 4. Regulation 23 (2) of the Principal Warrant is hereby amended by the substitution for "eighty seven new pence" [inserted by Regulation 3 of the Warrant No. 27] of "one hundred pence". 5. The First Schedule to the Principal Warrant is hereby amended by the substitution for the entries therein [inserted by Regulation 4 of Warrant No. 27] of the entries in the First Schedule to this Scheme. 6. The Second Schedule to the Principal Warrant is hereby amended by the substitution for the entries therein [inserted by Regulation 5 of Warrant No. 27] of the entries in the Second Schedule to this Warrant. 7. The Third Schedule to the Principal Warrant is hereby amended by the substitution for the entries therein [inserted by Regulation 6 of Warrant No. 27] of the entries in the Third Schedule to this Warrant. 8. The Fourth Schedule to the Principal Warrant is hereby amended by the substitution for the entries therein [inserted by Regulation 7 of Warrant No. 27] of the entries in the Fourth Schedule to this Warrant. 9. The Fifth Schedule to the Principal Warrant is hereby amended by the substitution for the entries therein [inserted by Regulation 8 of Warrant No. 27] of the entries in the Fifth Schedule to this Warrant. 10. Regulation 7 of the Inland Post Amendment (No. 4) Warrant, 1953 ( S.I. No. 279 of 1953 ), as amended by Regulation 9 of Warrant No. 27, is hereby amended by the substitution for "seventy new pence" of "ninety pence". 11. Regulation 5 of the Inland Post Amendment (No. 5) Warrant, 1953 [inserted by Regulation 12 of the Inland Post Amendment (No. 19) Warrant, 1974 ( S.I. No. 280 of 1974 )] is hereby amended by the substitution of "one penny per item plus an annual charge of twenty five pounds" for "one new penny". Certificate of Posting (issued at the request of the sender of an unregistered postal packet other than a parcel) Free of charge The service is subject to such rules as may be prescribed. 3. Certificate of Delivery (obtained and forwarded to the sender of a registered postal packet at his request) Requested at time of posting ... Subsequent 12 months THIRD SCHEDULE "Express Delivery Service Col. 1 Col. 2 Conveyance by special messenger of a postal packet throughout the whole of the service demanded or through part only of its course in the post. For delivery in Ireland a minimum charge of 50p plus at the rate of 100p for each 1.6 km or part thereof. These charges also include express delivery items sent for delivery to Britain. Writing down of Express message received by telephone. A fee (in addition to the appropriate telephone fee and appropriate distance fee) of 50p. FOURTH SCHEDULE "Registered Postal Packets Part I Col. 1 Service Fee in addition to Ordinary Postage Col. 2 Registration Fee Col. 3 Late Fee 1. Postal Packet handed for registration to an officer of the Post Office authorised to receive the same, though not on the duty at a Post Office or handed in at a Post Office for registration. Such extra sum not exceeding 10p as may be prescribed. (Applicable only to packets intended to be forwarded by the next despatch but registered after the expiration of the time appointed for the registration of packets(without extra fee) and within such further time as An Post may from time to time appoint with reference to any particular Post Office). 2. Compulsory registration pursuant to Regulation 42 of this Warrant. (Less any amount which may have been affixed in postage stamps in excess of the ordinary postage).
