I, JIM MITCHELL, Minister for Communications, being of the opinion that the broadcasting of any matter which is a matter of a class specified in the Broadcasting Authority Act, 1960 (Section 31) Order, 1983 ( S.I. No. 17 of 1983 ), would be likely to promote, or incite to, crime or would tend to undermine the authority of the State, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by Section 31(1A) (inserted by section 16 of the Broadcasting Authority (Amendment) Act, 1976 (No. 37 of 1976)) of the Broadcasting Authority Act, 1960 (No. 10 of 1960), and section 3 of the Ministers and Secretaries (Amendment) Act, 1983 (No. 40 of 1983), hereby order as follows:— 1. This Order may be cited as the Broadcasting Authority Act, 1960 (Section 31) Order, 1985. 2. The period for which the Broadcasting Authority Act, 1960 (Section 31) Order, 1983 ( S.I. No. 17 of 1983 ), is to remain in force is hereby further extended to the 19th day of January, 1986. GIVEN under my Official Seal, this 18th day of January, 1985. JIM MITCHELL. EXPLANATORY NOTE. This Order extends for twelve months from 20 January, 1985 the period of validity of the Broadcasting Authority Act, 1960 (Section 31) Order, 1983. The latter directs Radio Telefís Éireann to refrain from broadcasting matters of a particular class which, in the opinion of the Minister for Communications, would be likely to promote, or incite to, crime or would tend to undermine the authority of the State.
