I, HEATHER HUMPHREYS, Minister for Social Protection, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 1 (2) of the Civil Registration (Electronic Registration) Act 2024 (No. 27 of 2024), hereby order as follows: 1. This Order may be cited as the Civil Registration (Electronic Registration) Act 2024 (Commencement) Order 2024. 2. In this Order, “Act of 2024” means the Civil Registration (Electronic Registration) Act 2024 (No. 27 of 2024). 3. The 12th day of August 2024 is appointed as the day on which the following provisions of the Act of 2024 shall come into operation: (a) sections 1 and 2; (b) section 3(a)(i); (c) sections 4 to 7; (d) section 9; (e) sections 16 and 17; (f) section 18, in so far as it relates to the insertion of section 68A into the Act of 2004, in so far only as that section relates to references in that Act or any other enactment to the provision by a person of required particulars in relation to a birth to a registrar pursuant to that Act; (g) sections 19 to 22. 4. The 16th day of September 2024 is appointed as the day on which the following provisions of the Act of 2024 shall come into operation: (a) section 3, in so far as it is not already in operation; (b) section 8; (c) section 10; (d) section 15; (e) section 18, in so far as it relates to the insertion of section 68A into the Act of 2004, in so far only as that section relates to references in that Act or any other enactment to the provision by a person of required particulars in relation to a stillbirth to a registrar pursuant to that Act; (f) section 23. This Order provides for the commencement of a number of provisions contained in the Civil Registration (Electronic Registration) Act 2024 . These provisions are mainly concerned with enabling online registration of births, amending provisions relating to stillbirths, and other consequential amendments to the Civil Registration Act 2004
