This Order designates certain immersive technology activities as industrial activities for industrial training purposes, and it does not apply where a separate industrial training order is already in force.

An tSeirbhÃs Oideachais Leanúnaigh agus Scileanna, after making such inquiries as it thinks proper and consultation with organisations and associations appearing to it to be representative of substantial numbers of employers in the activities referred to in this Order and of substantial numbers of persons employed in such activities, in exercise of the powers conferred on it by section 23 of the Industrial Training Act 1967 (No. 5 of 1967) and by section 38 of the Further Education and Training Act 2013 (No. 25 of 2013) hereby makes the following Order: 1. This Order may be cited as the Industrial Training (Immersive Technology) Order 2025. 2. The following activities are hereby declared to be designated industrial activities for the purposes of the Industrial Training Act 1967 (No. 5 of 1967): (a) the design, development, production and/or delivery of immersive experiences; (b) the writing, testing, deployment, management and/or maintenance of software code that forms part of an immersive system; (c) the design, development, installation, testing, operation, monitoring and/or maintenance of immersive systems. 3. In this Order: “immersive experience” means an experience where technology, through digital enhancements and/or simulations, alters sensory perception of a physical environment; “immersive system” means the software and hardware which collectively enable an immersive experience. 4. The provisions of this Order shall not apply to any activity of industry for which a separate industrial training order is, for the time being, in force. This Order defines the activities of the immersive technology industry in relation to which An tSeirbhÃs Oideachais Leanúnaigh agus Scileanna shall exercise its functions in the creation of statutory apprenticeships.
