Statute overview

About this statute

Factories and establishments covered by this Act must be registered, and employees are to be insured under the scheme. The Act requires the Corporation to manage the Fund and related accounts, and requires employers to pay and report contributions for covered employees. This part says how medical benefit decisions can be referred, reviewed, appealed, and enforced, and it also sets penalties and exemption powers. The Corporation and governments have powers to issue directions, make rules or regulations, and delegate functions; some amounts may be written off if irrecoverable; and certain liabilities stay payable after transfer of a factory or establishment.
