An Act to declare the official language ef the State of Madhya Pradesh. Whereas it is expedient to provide for the adoption of Hindi as the language to be used for the official purposes of the State of Madhya Pradesh; It is enacted by the Madhya Pradesh Legislature in the Eighth Year of the Republic of India as follows :- Short title, eidllnt lllld I. (I) This Act may be called the Madhya Pradesh Official Language commencncnt. Act, 195 7. (2) It extends to the whole of Madhya Pradesh and it shall come into force immediately on its publication in the Madhya Pradesh Gazette. Definition. 2. In this Act, unless there is anything repugnant in the subject or context, 'Hindi' means Hindi in the Devanagari Script. Official ~ fqr Officlal 3. [(1)]2 Subject as hereinafter provided, Hindi shall be the 0oflici11l purposes of the State. language of the State for all purposes except such purposes as are specifically excluded by the Constitution and in· respect of such matters as may be specified by Government from time to time by notification. [(2) The form of numerals to be used for the official purposes of the State shall be the Devanagari form of numerals : Provided that the State Government mav, by notification, authorise the use of the international form of Indian nun::erals for any Gfficial purpose of the State. ]ll Language to be 1lled in 4. The language to be used in,- Bills, ete. (a) all Bills to be introduced or amendment thereto to be moved in each House of th<:> State Legislature; (b) all Acts passed by each House of the State Legislature; (c) all Ordinances promulgated under Article 213 of the Const itution of India ; (d) all orders, rules, regulations and bye•laws issued bv the State Government under the Constitution of India or under any law made by the Parliament or the Legislature of the State; shall, on and from such date, as the State Government may, in respect of each of the items aforesaid, appoint by notification, be Hindi. 5. (I) The Government shall have power to make mies for carrying Rules and repeal. out the provisions of this Act. (2) The Madhya Pradesh _Official Languages Act, 19~,0 (XXIV of 1950) and the Madhya Bharat Official Langn::ge Act. Whereas, it is expedient to provide for the adoption of Chhattisgarhi in addition to Hindi as the language to be used for the official purposes for the State of Chhattisgarh. Be it enacted by the Chhattisgarh legislature in the Fifty-Eighth Year of the Republic of India as follows :- 1. (1) This Act may be called the Chhattisgarh Official Language (Amendment) Short title and Act, 2007. · Commencement. (2) It shall come into force from such date as the State Government may appoint by notification. 2. ,..S ection 2ofthe Chhattisgarh Official Language Act, 1957 (No. 5 of 1958) (hereinafter Amendment of Sec referred to as the Principal Act). For Section 2 , the following shall be -substituted, tion 2. namely:-. • · "In this Act, unless the context otherwise requires, Definitions. (a) "Hindi'' means Hindi in the Devanagari Script: (b) "Chhattisgarhi" means Chhattisgarhi in the Devanagari Script." · Amendment of Sec 3. In sub-section (l) of Section 3 of the Principal Act, after the word "Hindi" the words . tion 3. "and Chhattisgarhi" shall be inserted.
