Whereas it is expedient further to amend the Gauhati University Act, 1947, hereinafter called the 1947°* principal Act, in the manner hereinafter appearing ; It is hereby enacted in the twenty-fourth year of the Republic of India as follows :— Short title 1.(1) This Act may be called the Gauhati and University (Amendment) Act, 1973. commence­ ment. (2) It shall come into force on such date as the State Government may, by notification in the official Gazette, appoint. Amendment 2. In Section 37 of the principal Act, for the of Section 37 word “twenty” occurring in between the words of the Assam “than” and “lakhs” the word “forty” shall be of substituted. MD.
