This Act amends the Payment of Wages Act, 1936 in its application to West Bengal.
GOVERNMENT OF WEST BENGAL LEGISLATIVE DEPARTMENT West Bengal Act XXVI of 1975 THE PAYMENT OF WAGES (WEST BENGAL AMENDMENT) ACT, 1975. [Passed by the West Bengal Legislature.] [Assent of the President was first published in the Calcutta Gazette, Extraordinary, of the 23rd July, 1975.] [23rd July, 1975.] An Act to amend the Payment of Wages Act, 1936, in its application to West Bengal. 4 of 1936.(cid:9) WHEREAS it is expedient to amend the Payment of Wages Act, 1936, in its application to West Bengal, for the purpose and in the manner hereinafter appearing; It is hereby enacted in the Twenty-sixth Year of the Republic of India, by the Legislature of West Bengal, as follows:- 1. This Act may be called the Payment of Wages (West Bengal Short title. Amendment) Act, 1975. 2. The Payment of Wages Act, 1936 (hereinafter referred to as the Application said Act), shall, in its application to West Bengal, be amended in the of the Act. manner hereinafter provided. 3. In sub-section (2) of section 7 of the said Act, after clause (e), the Amendment following clause shall be added, namely:— of section 7 "(p) deductions for contribution to a fund created under a "Death f Act 4 of 1936. Benefit Scheme" approved by the State Government and(cid:9) • designed to render pecuniary assistance to the dependants of a deceased employed person who had been a member of such a scheme: Provided that no deduction shall be made without written authorisation of the employed person in the form and manner prescribed in the scheme. Explanation.—"dependant" has the same meaning assigned to it in clause (d) of sub-section (1) of section 2 of the 8 of 1923.(cid:9) Workmen's Compensation Act, 1923.". 137
