About this statute

This Act sets rules for receiving, detaining, moving, and releasing prisoners, and gives the State Government powers to appoint prison officers and make rules. A High Court may let a prisoner stay at liberty on his own recognizance if it has recommended to the Government that the prisoner be granted a free pardon.
