Constitution of general police-district embracing two or more l[Union Territories).-Notwithstanding anything contained in the PoliceAct, 1861 (V of 1861), the Central Government may, by notification in the Official Gazette, constitutea generalpolice-districtembracingtwo ormore I[UnionTerritories]. COMMENTS CentralGovernment is empowered to constitute a general police-districtembracing two or more Union Territories. 4. Constitution of one police-force for general police district.-The entire policeestablishmentina generalpolice-districtshallbeonepoliceforce andshall consist of such number of officers and men and shall be constituted in such manneras the CentralGovernmentmay,byorder, direct. 5. Superintendence and administrationof police.-(l)Thesuperintendence ofthepolicethroughouta generalpolice-districtshallvestin,andbeexercisedby, theCentralGovernment. (2) The administration of the said police-force shall vest in an officer, appointedinthisbehalfbytheCentralGovernment,whoshallexerciseinrespect of that police- force such of the powers exercisable by an Inspector-General of Policeunder thePoliceAct, 1861 (5 of1861),as the CentralGovernmentmay,by notification in the Official Gazette, specify in this behalf. 1.
