About this statute

This Act may be cited as the Export Processing Zones Act. This section provides definitions of terms used in the Act (for example: "Authority", "export processing zone", "export", "import", "commercial activity", and others). Section 10 gives the Authority powers to set procedures, security, licences, entry rules and require information for export processing zones, and requires the Authority to decide on designations and approvals within thirty days of receiving a completed application. The Export Processing Zones Authority must have its own general fund; the fund includes fees under the Act and other sums received, the Fund is used to defray the Authority's expenditures, and the annual budget must be approved by the Treasury with excess general fund amounts paid into the Consolidated Fund. The Authority must keep proper books of accounts; the Authority or an authorized person may in writing require a licensee to furnish returns or information within a period (not less than thirty days); licensees are not compelled to disclose patented commercial secrets.
