About this statute

This Act may be cited as the Climate Change Act. This section provides definitions of terms used in the Act, including definitions such as "adaptation", "aggregate earnings", "Authority", "carbon credits", "carbon market" and "Paris Agreement". This Act shall be applied for the development, management, implementation and regulation of mechanisms to enhance climate change resilience and low carbon development for the sustainable development of Kenya. Lists guiding values and principles including enactment/application/interpretation of the Act, public policy decisions on climate change, guidance by specified constitutional articles, promotion of sustainable development, equity and social inclusion, integrity and transparency, and stakeholder participation and consultation. The Council must determine the seal device; the Secretary of Climate Change must keep it; the chairperson and Secretary must authenticate affixing; documents under the seal or issued for the Council are admissible as evidence and deemed executed unless proved otherwise.
