About this statute

The Act may be cited as the Kenya Industrial Research and Development Institute Act. Defines "technology" as "the application of knowledge to meet the goals, goods and services for sustainable development" and "innovation" as "doing something new to improve a product, process or service;", and refers to model, utility model or industrial design as within the meaning of the Industrial Property Act (Cap. 509). Establishes the Kenya Industrial Research and Development Institutes. Sets qualifications and composition requirements for directors and members, including degree, experience, minimum senior-management service, recent non-employment with the Institute, Chapter Six compliance, disqualifying conditions, and gender/regional/youth and disability representation. The Board determines the organisation’s mission, vision, purpose and core values.
