This preamble introduces the grand-ducal decree and lists the legal bases and authorities consulted. Les automobiles doivent être équipées de deux plaques d’identité visibles à l’avant et à l’arrière; les motocycles doivent avoir une plaque unique visible à l’avant. Le Directeur général des travaux publics fixe le modèle des plaques, leur pose et leur éclairage nocturne. Vehicle owners resident in the Grand Duchy must file a declaration before putting an automobile or motorcycle on public roads. Drivers of automobiles or motorcycles must carry a certificate of competence. Vehicles in the country that belong to a non-resident owner must carry the identity marks required by the relevant foreign law, or by Luxembourg law if the foreign law does not require any.
