Statute overview

About this statute

Preamble to a grand-ducal order announcing a prohibition on using cereals, potatoes, and fruits to make spirits. During the 1916–1917 campaign, it is forbidden to use certain cereals, potatoes, fruits, wine, cider, and perry to make eau-de-vie. This article exempts several listed fruit by-products and spoiled fruits from the preceding prohibition, and allows a request for authorization to distill certain unfit pears, grape wine, cider, and perry. All eaux-de-vie made under Article 2 must be ceded to the State for a price to be set later; sales made against this rule are void. Anyone who violates the preceding provisions or ministerial implementing measures may be punished with 8 days to 1 year in prison, a fine of 26 to 1000 fr., or one of those penalties alone; the goods or drinks involved are confiscated in addition.
