About this statute
The Government is authorized to requisition horse-drawn vehicles with harness and motor trucks for home delivery of potatoes. The Government may requisition animal-drawn vehicles, carts, and motor trucks during 22, 23, and 24 October 1916 to transport potatoes to homes. Requisitions are made against payment of a just and equitable indemnity charged to the persons for whom the transports are carried out. Anyone who refuses to assist with carrying out an ordered requisition can be punished with a fine, imprisonment, or either penalty alone.
