This grand-ducal order concerns the admission of volunteers aspiring to the grade of officer. Certain unmarried Luxembourgers under 24 who are physically fit for military service and hold the specified diploma may be admitted to the Armed Force as volunteers. Volunteers must sign up for at least three years and wear the prescribed uniform and insignia. After one year as a sous-officer and with their superiors’ satisfaction, they may be admitted to the officer exam. Certain volunteers who successfully attended a military school abroad preparing for officer rank are exempt from some exam branches and only have to take a test in specified other branches. The exams under Articles 2 and 3 must be taken before a commission made up of three officers.
