Statute overview

About this statute

This is the preamble and table of contents for an order about the organisation of the notariat’s common fund. All notaries in office and future appointed notaries must belong to the common fund. The common fund is intended to better secure repayment of money entrusted to notaries, provide certain support to members of the notarial profession and their families, and pay certain expenses in the general interest of notariat. The notarial common fund may use its receipts to pay existing obligations, create reserves, and support notarial offices, but borrowing for that purpose needs consent from the General Council of the Notariat. The committee of the common fund has powers to supervise notary offices, set sureties and security, appoint advisers in certain liquidation cases, and set general financial guidelines with the notarial general council’s agreement.
