Statute overview

About this statute

This preamble introduces a law on admitting independent intellectual workers to the pension fund of private employees. Certain listed independent professionals in Luxembourg must be affiliated with the private-sector employees’ pension fund. Certain people who hold two specified professions are insured with the private employees’ pension fund and contribute on their total income, subject to the contribution ceiling. A public administration regulation may place certain people under compulsory or optional insurance and may set their benefits differently from the 1951 law. Some people already covered by another pension regime are not subject to this law’s pension insurance regime, but they may choose this law’s regime and must do so definitively within six months after the law enters into force.
