About this statute

This is the preamble to a Luxembourg law about retroactive purchase of insurance periods under contributory pension schemes. Certain Luxembourgers may retroactively cover pension periods up to age 16 if they are under 60, have been affiliated to a Luxembourg contributory pension scheme for at least eight months, and receive a favourable opinion from a doctor chosen by the pension body. Certain Luxembourgers over 60 at the law’s entry into force may retroactively cover certain prior work periods, and the request must be filed within one year. Certain widows of Luxembourgers may retroactively cover insurance periods for the husband’s account, and they must file the request within one year. A qualifying widow may be allowed to retroactively cover contribution periods for the husband, and the request must be filed within one year.
