This provision is the preamble to the law and records the formal adoption steps and signatures. L’enfant adopté par un Luxembourgeois peut acquérir la nationalité luxembourgeoise si les conditions de l’article 354, alinéas 2 et 3, du Code civil sont remplies. Certain foreign adults may acquire Luxembourg nationality by option if their father, or the person who had custody during their minority, acquires or regains Luxembourg nationality. The option under Article 19(1° and 4°) is admissible only if the stated conditions are met. The Minister of Justice must hear the communal council of the foreigner's last residence when giving a reasoned opinion, and that opinion must be taken in secret session.
