Statute overview

About this statute

This provision is the preamble of a Luxembourg law on protecting nature and natural resources and amending several other laws. This provision lists the law’s environmental objectives, including protecting and restoring nature, landscapes, habitats, biodiversity, natural resources, and ecosystem services. A protected-area network is established to help achieve the objectives of Article 1. This article defines terms used in the law, including green zones, Natura 2000 areas, conservation zones, the minister, and approved persons. The minister must give an opinion on certain green-zone boundary change projects within 4 months, and later decide on some projects within 3 months. The commune’s executive must send the file to the minister within 15 days after the communal council’s agreement. If the minister does not send the opinion on time, the communal council may vote.
