Statute overview

About this statute

This is the preamble to the law, stating the formal enactment and references to the legislative approvals and context. For certain employers affected by government closure decisions or admitted to partial unemployment for Covid-19 force majeure, the probationary clause in specified contracts is suspended and resumes the day after the state of crisis ends. During a state of crisis, the 26-week dismissal protection period is suspended for an employee who is unable to work because of illness or accident. The employer may, for serious reasons and only after the 27th week of protection, dismiss the employee or call the prior interview if the notice or medical certificate requirements are met. During the state of crisis, fixed-term student employment contracts in the listed economic sectors end on the originally agreed expiry date and cannot be renewed after the crisis ends. During the state of crisis, the deadlines in Article L. 166-2(5) to (8) of the Labour Code are suspended and start running again the day after the crisis ends.
