Statute overview

About this statute

This preamble explains the legal basis and urgency for the regulation adopted during the Covid-19 crisis. The deadlines prescribed in proceedings before judicial, administrative, military, and constitutional courts are suspended, except for specified deadlines listed in the article. During the state of crisis, several criminal-procedure requests and appeals are handled on the file, with written submissions and short working-day deadlines; some filings may also be sent by email. During the state of crisis, the three-day delay in article 379 quinquies(1) of the Criminal Code is extended to eight days. During the state of crisis, temporary exits, visits, and work activities in prisons may be restricted or removed only as necessary to contain Covid-19 spread, and any such measures must be proportionate, time-limited, and respectful of human dignity.
