Statute overview

About this statute

This Act may be cited as the Business Registration Act. This section defines key terms used in the Act. This section says the Act applies to registration of sole proprietors and partnerships, but not to certain low-turnover livelihood businesses or to offices and employment. The Registrar of Businesses is responsible for administering and applying the Act, must follow the Minister’s directions and the Public Service Act when performing duties, and may use a seal. The Registrar and authorised officers may inspect premises, send notices, correct database mistakes, issue new certificates, and publish cancellation details; they must also show their office and written authority when using the inspection power.
