About this statute

This section gives the Act's short title: Special Crops Act. This section defines “Authority” and “special crop” for the Act. The Minister may declare a crop to be a special crop if satisfied that promoting or fostering the crop’s development is justified under the Act. If a crop is declared a special crop under section 3, the Minister must establish an Authority by order in the Gazette. An order establishing an Authority may set out how the Authority works and what powers it has; the Minister can also give directions, amend or revoke orders, and revoke orders can include winding-up arrangements.
