About this statute

This section says the Act may be cited as the Malawi Red Cross Society Act. This section defines several terms used in the Act. When this Act starts, the Malawi Red Cross Society is established, the Branch’s assets, liabilities, and existing contracts move to the Society, and Branch officers keep corresponding appointments until the rules provide otherwise. The Society is incorporated as a body corporate and may sue and be sued, deal with property, and enter contracts needed for its functions or objects. The Society must carry out listed humanitarian objects and must not make adverse distinctions based on protected criteria while doing so.
